CLARET is a world first research project between VHE Construction, INTERKONSULT Limited(IKL), British Geological Survey (BGS) and South Kesteven District Council (SKDC). The project is developing non invasive in-situ geoelectical imaging technology to monitor and validate the remediation of contaminated land.
Since the electrical properties of the subsurface are sensitive to the presence of pollutants, continuous geoelectrical imaging can map the movement and concentration of contamination as it changes over time. Crucially the technology is automated and remotely controlled, so monitoring can be carried out without the cost of repeated site visits. Advantages of this approach include:
• Potential to reduce costs
• Time saving
• Remote access to data from your desktop
• Continuous and long term monitoring of ground conditions
• Detects transient processes that could be missed by manual re-occupation
• Reduces risk of opening up new contaminant pathways as no sampling needed
CLARET technology is currently being tested at a site in Stamford and the results so far have been very promising – If successful, it is expected to improve the way in which contaminated land is dealt with.
Attached is a market survey - it should only take a few minutes to complete and your feedback would be very much appreciated. If you have any questions please email Peter Graham at feedback@claretproject.org.
